The ten hottest years have all happened since 2002, with 2016 the hottest ever according to a new report from the Met Office. Meanwhile, none of our coldest years has occurred after 1963.
Summer rainfall is up 13% when compared to the last century and with global emissions of greenhouse gases still rising, the UK will continue to get warmer and wetter. Last year's summer heatwave was made 30 times more likely as a result of climate change.
